From staff working in national projects to local volunteers, people in our sector rarely get the credit they are due. Our Awards and Commendations, which are supported at the very highest level, help to put that right. And beyond the Award Ceremony we work with Award Winners and Commendees to build on their achievements and help to share their practice more widely.
Anyone can make a nomination; you can nominate anyone working in prisons, probation or youth justice, whether as a member of staff, a volunteer or an employee of outside organisation; and you can nominate two or more people jointly if you wish.
To make a nomination, please complete the Part One nomination form, explaining in your own words why you think the person (or people) you are nominating deserves the national recognition of a Butler Trust Award. The form includes additional guidance on what to include in the form and what the Trust is looking for.
Once you have completed the Part One form you should forward it to the Governor / Director, Probation Chief Executive or equivalent (the guidance on the nomination form gives more details). They will then forward your nomination to your local Butler Trust Co-ordinator who will collect some additional information to help our Awarding Panel in their deliberations.
Nominations can be submitted at any time but the cut-off for each Annual Awards cycle is the 31 May each year. To allow time for your local Butler Trust Co-ordinator to collect the additional information we require, please complete your part of the nomination by the end of April if possible.
